ISLAMABAD: Army was leading the senior category in the 14th Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship with 15 gold medals following Sunday’s event at the Aamir Khan Gymnasium Islamabad.
Two events were contested in the senior category Sunday with Zoya Sabir winning the -68kg female category gold. Mishbah Maqbool and Rubina Sikandar took silver and bronze respectively. Both are from Wapda.
In the men’s 180kg category Railway’s Mohammad Iqbal took gold with Zeeshan (Wapda) and Rehmatuah (Police) winning silver and bronze respectively.
Army so far have accumulated 539 points winning 16 gold, five silver and two bronze while Wapda with 320 points occupy second spot. Wapda so far have won two gold, ten silvers and nine bronze. Air Force occupied third spot with 206 points.
In the junior category, two events were contested Sunday with Fareed Ahmad (Balochistan) winning gold in -63kg event following by Danial Ahmad (Army) silver and Fahad Sohail (Punjab) bronze.
In girl’s -55kg category, Noor (Wapda) got gold followed by Anosha (Air Force) for silver and Areeba Javed (KP) for bronze.
In female -63kg Alma Shfan (KPK) got gold. Sabika (Sindh) got silver with Sadaf (Air Force) getting bronze. KP is leading the junior event with 56 points.
